Shouldn't forgotten words progress be reset?

I thought if you fail to remember the word while repeating, it should reset its progress and you would have to repeat it like if you just learned it (6h, 12h, 24h…).
But I’ve just forgotten some words and they are still like “repeat in 12 days”. Weird…

This is because you probably use the over-watering on the web portal.

If the review button is grey instead of blue, word intervals are not reset even if you give incorrect answers (red colour), sadly to say.

I didn’t know that. Thanks.

That can actually be good for me since I might want to practice with typing without it losing its progress.

Oh, I see. Yes, I was over-watering it for test. Although if you press “show right answer” in normal repeating, it doesn’t count as failed, wierdly, so you have either to wait the timer to run out or to press Enter in order to make it “failed” and to reset its progress.

Interesting!

I heard about the issue with the “Show answer button” in another thread.

Sometimes I wanted to use it, to correctly give the answer, but to click the button to show the last associated Mem (which all the time is disassociated again no matter how many times I re-associate a MEM to a word; or at least to try to re-assign it - but I have given up because of all those Mem bugs in the Memrise web portal).

You can also press the ESC hotkey to make it work like the “Show answer” button!!!

This will work even after you have correctly given the answer (green) and “Auto accept” would jump to the next question.

I tested it for over-watering and “classic review” with my 50 languages and DuoLingo PT BR courses and I can confirm that pressing the ESC (=Show answer) does not change the interval, but leave it unchanged, even in a “classic review”.

Only the ENTER key and red colour marking of a question did change the interval; I triple checked this in the “50 languages” course words list (no sub levels assigned, so it is much easier to view the intervals for reviewed or skipped questions).
