I am really enjoying this course and I am learning kanji very quickly. However, when a kanji is displayed for me to find the English translation, the English word is already displayed under the Kanji, so it ruins it a little. I have to keep my thumb in the corner of the screen to hide it. Is there a way to disable this auto-translation option?
Don’t sweat those questions. RTK by design is meant to be only Keyword to Kanji. However, Memrise for some reason creates reverse cards for questions during the planting phase. I can’t stop it from doing this, but it’s only two or three questions during that time.
Also, if you can, hide the multiple choices of the kanji. Try to think of (or write out) the kanji before looking at the choices. If you got it wrong and notice it when you look, then choose the wrong answer on purpose. Yes, multiple choice for kanji is way to easy. Isn’t that cool?
Cheers, thanks for your reply. That course is doing a great job. I think the reverse cards are also helpful, kinda require you to change your mindset.
Thx @RyouBakura for redirecting.
There’s nothing too wrong with reverse cards, but you want to get in the habit of seeing Kanji and thinking of Japanese words which will happen in the grammar and vocabulary sections and really take off when you are reading for real.
