Romanji spelling of ふ

So in Japanese 1 we learned that ふ was spelled “fu” so I assume the course is using Hepburn Romanization, but in Japanese 2 It is only taking “hu” (for some words) as correct spelling which suggests we switched to Kunrei/Nihon-shiki. Can we please either pick one or accept either? It’s really frustrating because the “correct” spelling of ふ. changes from word to word and it’s hard to keep track of so I end up repeating the same words over and over.

Let me be clear, I am not concerned with the etymology or pronunciation of the character. I am only concerned with the fact that the course uses Romanji spelling, but isn’t consistent.

I wonder if you can ask the course creator on this forum if they can add in an alternative to those words so it can accept “fu” and “hu.”

I’d recommend typing in hiragana/katakana with an IME instead of using romaji if the course allows. As you’ve seen, romaji can really mess you up at times. I honestly think it slows down ones learning if they rely on romaji.

Good luck. I hope they can find a work around for you. It’s always a pain to get words marked incorrect when you knew what they were.
