Review also reviews word NOT learned yet - 145 words at once

I had last Saturday a situation where a Review of a level started to review unlearned words. See screenshot.

Notes:

  • using the web interface
  • the last level of the course
  • about 50% of the words were already learned (it is fully seeded)
  • all 145 of the level showed up in the review (as said, both the learned and the unlearned)
  • the Memrise App continued to work fine, i.e. the not-yet-learned words did not show up in any review (not of the level, not of the whole course, not in a speed review)
  • in the overview of the level it showed as ‘starting the seed’ (an empty bar)

Please, could Memrise let me know if such behavior is indeed a bug or not (i.e otherwise by design)?

Hi John, the maximum amount of words you can review in a review session is 100 words. I’ve had a look into your account setting and it is set to 25 words to review.

Can you explain to me how you managed to review 145 words? Are you using any custom script or anything which alters the behaviour of the review session?

I also find it weird how your progress bar is around 25% while you’ve only gained 38 points.

I don’t know how it happened. It’s a riddle for me too. I didn’t know I can set a review limit in the web and only know there is an option in the Android App.
To answer the script question: yes, two scripts running on Tampermonkey 4.2.7:

  • Memrise All Typing v0.1.6
  • Memrise Audio Provider v0.0.26

Of course, now you are going to suggest to turn them off, which I am happy to do. However, I cannot reproduce the problem, so I do not know if it helps. Is the review session not completely prepared by the server, then sent to the client/browser? Can client/script/browser actually tell the server to send more (or less)?

Thank you!

PS: it would be great if somehow the functionality of these script could be part of Memrise. For example by providing an ‘Typing All’ review mode.

edited: corrected a piece of ‘quote’ code .

IMHO it is possible to review more than 100 (summary) words on the web, IF you activate the (very great ) user script “infinitive learning” by Cooljingle.
My review setting is 100, so at the end this script polls again the server for the next batch, instead of ending the session.
But it does NOT poll 200-500 words in a single session from the Memrise server.

As I am also using the both above great user scripts “All Typing / Audio Provider” on the web in their latest versions, I can tell you “this described phenomen by John_Baite” (I have NOT experienced yet) is NOT the problem caused by any of those scripts.

NO, I do not use the Android web app (the app won’t let me login into my normal different Memrise e-mail account (works on Web), when there is a Bluestacks google id account created/signed on Bluestacks).

If you’re able to reproduce this problem again, please do let me know.

I would like to know how u managed to review more than 100 words, I believe this may be related to the bug you’ve reported.

The problem hasn’t occurred again, so I have not been able to reproduce it. As said before, I don’t know how it happened. Or why.
The original issue reported was that learning session started to review unlearned words, and the question was whether this is by design or not, though. The information is just information regarding the circumstances.
