Reusing databases and wikis: which words does Memrise recognize?

I’m creating a new course (Ancient Greek-Spanish) that contains words introduced by me in previous courses (I’m creating a reader with interlinear texts available through multimedia level and most of the words appear in previous courses). I thought that Memrise would recognize the existence of those words when creating a new level and typing the words, but it doesn’t or at least does so only randomly. No matter which data base I select when I create a new one (Ancient Greek, Ancient Greek for Spanish Speaker, etc.), Memrise recognizes some words and others not, although I can see that all of them exist in my previous courses (in fact I’m copying the words from previous courses in order to avoid mistakes).
My questions are the following:

  1. Does Memrise recognize words from previous courses when creating new ones and typing them?
  2. Which are those courses established as sources for recognition?
  3. Does have the selection of wikis (Ancient Greek, Ancient Greek for Spanish Speaker, etc.) any influence on the identity of the recognized words?

I love Memrise, I make use of it on a daily basis, my students have all their vocabulary on this platform, but I find that the available information about how it works (documentation) is very poor.

Thanks for your time.

As far as I’m aware …

  1. Only words from old courses that were created on the beta site (going back 5? years now). All their entries were transferred onto the site to form the now existing wikis.

  2. as above. Little/no quality control.

  3. It should do. If the wiki matches. Altering columns in the database used to dis-associate from the chosen wiki, I’m not sure if that’s still true but it’s worth mentioning.

It’s a good platform to make great courses if you can put the time and effort in, but there’s a lot of things that could be better too!

I’m afraid I can’t answer your questions, but I wrote a script a while back that clones one course into another. If you’d like me to use it to clone some of your previous courses into your new course, let me know. You’d have to go back through and delete the items that you didn’t want, though, so I don’t know if it’d be worth it or not.
