Recording Google Chrome error wided14326e39f

The recording option doesn’t work on any brouser.
In Google Chrome it gives error wided14326e39f
In other browsers (Explorer, Opera, Firefox) it asks for Adobe player greater than 10 (I have 30).

Any chances to overcome this problem?

Cause: The key is that users might enable use of flash for www.memrise.com, it is invisble that in the HTML code a call is made to static.memrise.com to execute the recording itself. This can be made visible with ‘Inspect’, but I always struggle to find the right frame with the right code.

Solution: You need to allow flash for both the www.memrise.com and static.memrise.com and the use of the microphone for static.memrise.com

Detailed steps:
Procedure 1: allow flash for www.memrise.com - this is intuitive for many users, so you might have already done this one.

  • Click Secure (next to the address in the address bar)
  • Click Site Settings. The screen for www.memrise.com should open
  • Click Flash: Allow

Procedure 2: allow flash for static.memrise.com

Procedure 3: set Macromedia’s Flash settings to allow microphone use

  • Right Click on the ‘wheel’ going around above the ‘ widfe746c04cff ’ error message. The Flash menu should open.
  • Select Global Settings
  • You need to enable ‘Flash’ for this macromedia.com website: See step 1.
  • Reload the page with F5
  • Click ‘Global Privacy Settings’. For the microphone and Camera you it shows two options: ‘Always Deny’ and ‘Always Ask’
  • Choose ‘Always Ask’
  • Click ‘Website Privacy Settings’. The panel shows a list of visited website, which should include ‘static.memrise.com’.
  • Select ‘static.memrise.com
  • Select ‘Allow’. Do this for both entries. (I am not 100% sure if the is neccessary, I haven’t tested without. Feedback appreciated).

Test if recording works now

  • Go back to the Memrise course-edit page.
  • Press F5.
  • Try to Record again.

Click ‘Allow’ when the browser asks whether you allow the use of the microphone.
