Yes. There’s a userscript for users who would like to do it, and course creators/contributors can also configure their courses this way 
So. What is the configuration setting for course creators?
Go to the column of the language you want to learn and remove the first check mark on the second panel. Then you get tapping only.

Thanks but i think there’s a misunderstanding. As a course creator I want to set the selection from pre-existing words (4 or 6) per individual course directly and so far I have not found a setting for this.

Do you want it to be the same four words per course, or are you trying to set four words per word?
OK, I think I have one course I’m a user in which has only selections of blocks, 4 or 6. I would like to set up one of my trainer courses the same way. 4 or 6, should not matter – I think 4 is used when someone has missed the 6 block version and the system eliminates candidates to help out.
