We’re discussing the problem with the “learning insight: times of day” graph here: Graph showing “times of day when you learn best” is not updating

I sent in a bug report on the learning events problem last night, but was going to wait a day or two before bringing it up in the forums. Now that you’ve posted, I suppose I’ll dive in…

Here are some details:

Three or four days ago, I noticed that the number of learning events per day dropped, even though I hadn’t changed the amount of work I was doing on Memrise. Then, I compared the number of learning events on the 365-day chart to the number of new words and total points earned each day. (I keep track of these things in a spreadsheet.) I calculated that I was short 200-300 learning events per day for three days. Last night I confirmed it; some learning events are not being counted, and oddly, the discrepancy between questions answered and learning events (LE) counted seems random. I have a series of screenshots that gives the data below:

  • LE at start: 0 … watered 15 … LE after watering: 12 … missing LE: 3
  • LE at 12 … watered 10 … LE after watering: 21 … missing LE: 1
  • LE at 21 … watered 8 … LE after watering: 28 … missing LE: 1
  • LE at 28 … watered 10 … LE after watering: 38 … missing LE: 0
  • LE at 38 … watered 15 … LE after watering: 46 … missing LE: 7
  • LE at 46 … watered 7 … LE after watering: 53 … missing LE: 0
  • LE at 53 … over-watered 7 … LE after watering: 59 … missing LE: 1
  • LE at 59 … over-watered 7 … LE after watering: 64 … missing LE: 2
  • LE at 64 … planted 5 … LE after planting: 84 … missing LE: 10

Total learning events counted counted: 84
Total should be: 109
Total missing learning events: 25

Note: for anyone not familiar with the old garden terminology… planting = learning, watering = reviewing, over-watering = reviewing when the items are not due for review.

All of those are short tests. Here’s the data from a longer review session:

  • LE at start: 194 … watered 100 … LE after watering: 266 … missing LE: 28

@Joshua - Any insights on this issue?

Thank you for your answer.

@Kaspian made a really good observation of what’s happening to the XPs. I think the recording of events (or counting) is not working properly - this is messing up my pace of learning / recall. I rely heavily on XPs since it is the only mean that I know how much activity I’ve done in a day. Please, Memrise, do have a look at this issue! :fearful:

I have the same problem.

This issue is still present. It is rolling up and affecting the streaks, too. I’m further noticing that, not only sometimes does a day show complete during that day and then show missed later, but the interface doesn’t always show the same day missed after incorrectly marking a miss. The misses seem to move around the calendar from time to time.

Today I reviewed and learned new words but in my learning graph, today s activity is still zero. Even though I was active on memrise today, it didn t reflect on my graph as today`s event although just the same today’s lesson helped me with ease on https://digthesegigs.com/ parse almost all the text on the site. Therefore, I would especially like to record the result as one of my achievements.

Thank you Xaivryd
