Graph showing "times of day when you learn best" is not updating

I just noticed that the learning time counter is not updating. It appears to have just happened. The time was updating for a few lessons I was going through and then it stopped.

Here’s some more detail, based on my own experience. (This post was initially drafted as a new post, but then I noticed that this thread existed…)

The graph on the Learning Statistics page titled, “Learning insight: times of day when you learn best,” has not been updating for at least a month now. I submitted a bug report a week ago, but have heard no response from the Memrise team.

I know it’s not updating because around January 15th I changed what time of day I was doing Memrise. Since I tend to add 500-800 learning events per day, the graph should only show about two weeks of data.

Based on what I’ve been doing recently, most of those dots should be between 18:00 and 24:00, with the biggest cluster around 21:00-23:00. I should a few dots dots between 2:00 and 4:00, and none between 6:00 and 16:00.

The screenshot of this chart that I took four days ago is absolutely identical.

@Joshua - Are you the correct person to tag on this issue?

Could you both make sure your timezone on your account settings matches up to your current timezone.

I’ve had a look at both your accounts, and your timezones are set to UTC - Unknown Region (GMT) Time.

Kaspian could you try changing your timezone from UTC to maybe GMT - 5 or GMT - 6 and see if the graph is displayed correctly.

@Joshua

When I set Memrise to my local timezone, the only thing that changes is that the green dots move 6 hours earlier. They’re still all the same size and in the same positions relative to each other. Likewise, when I set the timezone to Berlin or Hong Kong—same dots, same relative positions, same sizes, but moved to a different time of day.

With Memrise set to Guatemala, Mexico, and US/Central (I tried all three), most of the dots should be between noon and 6pm, mostly clustered around 3-5pm. There should be some dots 7-10pm, since I just added ~200 learning events in the last half-hour (6:45-7:15pm), and I tested this problem last night around 9-10pm, but they’re not showing up. There should be no dots between midnight and noon.

Note: I prefer to keep the timezone setting at GMT so that the 365-day chart with learning events and my daily goals end the day at the same time.

I am not sure about learning insight times. However I just did a 100 word list of spansih. At the end of the lesson it showed I took about 11 minutes. However the learning time for last 24 hours only shows about 8 minutes. Something is not getting added up correctly.

@javaugy11111 - Oh! I misunderstood you… sorry about that. This means we have three bugs…

  1. The learning insight graph is not updating
  2. The learning time for the last 24h is updating, but it’s miscounting/reporting incorrectly
  3. The learning events are not being counted correctly (See: Problem with correct display of my events and my learning time)

I’ve got details and screenshots with bugs #1 and #3. I’ll test #2 now…

Problem #2 confirmed. It’s inconsistent, though. Sometimes the correct amount of time is added, and other times it’s not. Here’s an example of it adding incorrectly:

The total after the watering session should be 28m 29s… It’s missing 2m 21s.

The bugs with the learning events (#3) and learning times (#2) appear to be corrected. I tested 3-4 watering sessions, and they all added LE and time correctly. Three cheers for repairing those bugs quickly! :+1: :sparkles: :champagne:

The learning insight graph showing the last 10,000 learning events is still not updating. :unamused: It still looks exactly the same as it did five days ago… It hasn’t updated in over a month.

(Today’s screenshot—still the same.)

@Joshua - Do you have any info on what the problem is or when it will be fixed??

@Joshua - This bug is still a problem.

I just did a bunch of planting and watering (~700 learning events), which should show up between 1:00 and 6:00 on the graph, but here’s what the screenshot looks like:

March 6

Notice it looks exactly the same the screenshot from February 28:

Feb 28

Which looks the same as February 17:

Feb 17

Which looks the same as Feb 12 and Feb 8 (This shows Feb 8; I’m skipping Feb 12):

Feb 8

The last time I spent any considerable time doing Memrise between 6-12am GMT was the second week of January, which is around the time this chart stopped updating with new data.

I notice the Insight Learning not updating correctly a while ago too.The #2 problem I only noticed that the more hours I put in learning, the higher the ‘Last 24h’ climb. LOL
