Petition: Introduce new 'Typing Review' mode

As a lot of people, myself included, are not happy with how Classic Review has been altered in the new Beta version, I propose one of the following resolutions:

1) Introduce a new separate mode called "Typing Review"
In this mode, you would only be faced with typing tests and nothing else. Every single word being reviewed would have to be spelled out. As for sentences/phrases, they would also have to be spelled out in their entirety.

2) Rename the new classic review in beta to “Mixed Review”, and introduce a new “Classic Review” that’s more like the old classic review, with mostly typing test and multiple choice tests.
This option would also be okay if option 1 isn’t feasible.

I really really hate the new Classic Review in beta. I’ll say it again, if that mode makes it out of beta and becomes permanent as it as right now, I’m gone… It doesn’t work for me. It doesn’t do anything for me. You ask us to choose/spell out what we hear, while you completely forget about translation, so we don’t actually recall or learn anything. It’s useless.

Moreover, you don’t really respond to this issue. You don’t listen to your customers. You barely communicate. And unfortunately I doubt that’ll change, even with the outrage over the recent changes. Prove me wrong.

I tend to agree with you. Everybody has his/her own reasons to learn a language. Mine is to be able to actively engage in a conversation. I achieved that by using open questions. Now with the Beta version you easily gain a lot of points, but because of the multiple choice I loose a lot of my active knowledge. I am a French teacher in the Netherlands, so I am quite used to quickly improve my knowledge of several languages. So for me, I also ask myself if I want to continue with Memrise if this becomes a permanent version. And I would be sorry, because I have always enjoyed Memrise. It is also the reason why I never upgraded it to Pro. If this is truly a platform to open up to other nationalities, it would be best if you put more emphasis on stimulating active knowledge of a language. So add “Open question Modus” in Review, so that you can make it more difficult for yourself. But at least you won’t trick yourself in thinking you are improving in a language, whereas you only get more points. Therefore, I liked the old version better.
