Perhaps there might be a better translation for rødhåret?

Going through the Norwegian 3 course I just got to the topic “in disguise”, in which we are introduced to lyshåret (light-haired}, quite reasonably translated as blonde, while rødhåret (red-haired) is translated as … ginger.

Now … it might be just me, but I overwhelmingly hear “ginger”, when referring to people rather than to a cat or to the ingredient, used as a derogatory (if not outright insulting) term. Is that really the best choice of word for Memrise to use here? What’s wrong with “red-haired” or “redhead”, both of which are perfectly common English usage and without the negative context of “ginger”?
