(1. dear @Lien: in general, Pali should be counted into Classical/sacred languages. The same goes for Sanskrit)
@dalancarter, hope one day you visit these fora. In level one, http://www.memrise.com/course/910937/pali-ak-warder-vocabulary/1/ you give both roots for say/speak /bhās and vad/, and /bhāsati vadati/ for ‘speaks’. As it should, of course . Unfortunately, in watering/ reviewing, one cannot gues if the right answer is bhās or vad, bhāsati or vadati. When something is “alt”/synonym/variant, memrise asks automatically for strict typing. However, there is no “romanised” pali keyboard, and bhasati is considered then not correct. That is, the user is marked “wrong” when s/he gives bhasati/bhas for say, says etc
Hydroptere,
I’m not sure what you mean when you say there’s no romanized Pāḷi keyboard. When I’m working with Pāḷi, I use this keyboard downloaded & installed on my computer from the Pāḷi Tipiṭaka site. E.g., bhās, bhāsati, Pāḷi Tipiṭaka. I’ve used it successfully in several Memrise courses.
I mean the on-screen keyboards of Memrise (if you would take Swedish, or Hungarian or Spanish as well, or katakana, you’d known them). I have already 5 IMEs installed, I am not installing romanised Pali as well, (the digital Pali reader app weights heavy enough)… Thanks for your kindness, thou
@dalancarter in Pali AK Warder course (level 1), you give tathāgatho as Buddha, Thus-gone one. However, Warder (and elsewhere) gives tathāgato - without the second “h”.
I realise that since the above thread is four years old, you are probably not still updating the course, but leaving this here on the off-chance you ever visit the forum and can amend.
