Hello,
I noticed there is a huge difference between using Memrise in a browser versus the Android/iPhone phone app when there is a question that expects you to input the answer.
The web app handles it perfectly. It waits for your input followed by enter, then it checks the result.
However, the phone app provides a handful of multiple choice style buttons to use to input characters. Why? Why is this even necessary? Is there a smartphone in existence that does not have a keyboard input method? The image below shows exactly what I am talking about.
This is ruining my learning experience on the mobile platform as I no longer have to recall the item, I simply can use process of elimination on the 8 given characters to come up with the correct answer. Not to mention, in the case of this example which is Japanese, I don’t have to know the kanji readings either since I can just click the blue button with the kanji on it instead of inputing the correct reading.
Take this example, I’m going to ask you a question below using the same format. I will assume you don’t know who Jessica Harrington is because I just made her up. But that won’t matter:
Q: What color raincoat does Jessica Harrington always wear during the fall season?
Y L B D U E J
I bet you got the right answer!
So my request is for at a minimum, an option in settings to disable the multiple choice input method. Best case would be to remove that function completely since all phones/tablets have keyboard input, but maybe there is a person somewhere who actually likes it… so how about just an option to disable it?
Thanks!
