I created an online-vocabulary book for myself, where I add foreign language words and include a phrase that helps me remember the word. A friend mentioned that my “cues” are similar to the “mems” in memrise, which got me started on memrise (and which I now really love using). The more difficult words I still add to my cuelingo.com vocabulary book, which enhances memrise rather than replacing it, especially when I can look up my words on my mobile when out and about in Spain. I am also adding all verb conjugations to my vocabulary book and, after a year of doing so, am now getting to grips with all the 17 tenses and 6 different “persons” (a total of over 100 words per verb!!!) It is really pleasing when the ‘penny starts to drop’.
Over the years I have added 4000 Spanish words to my vocabulary book and have learnt about 50%. The problem is that I am always adding new words, so my percentage learnt tends not to not increase much.
