One non-existant word left in a chapter

I have a course where it says I have one word left to learn, despite there being no words left to learn (see image below). I’ve tried ignoring all words one-by-one to make sure it’s not the ignore function that isn’t working properly, but they all increased the number of total words left to learn by one, so that’s not it. Furthermore, when I click on “Continue Learning” I get stuck in a loop showing the following error until I close the page:

Whoops.
Could not load the session. Sorry. Please see this support page for more details

@Elyviere: This has been an issue for quite some time now, but it has definitely gotten better.

@MemriseSupport: I gather that you guys thought the problem with “unfinished courses” had been resolved. Here’s an example that this probably isn’t the case.

Hi @Elyviere,

Thanks for reporting this and sorry to hear that.

To help us look into this, can you please confirm the name of the course in question? Do you have a link?

Best wishes,
Memrise team.

Absolutely, here’s the course and the specific chapter in which it occurred.

Hi,

Thanks for getting back to us.

Unfortunately due to some inconsistencies in the number of items in that level, Learn New Words is causing an error (i.e. the level says it has 15 items, but the actual number of items is 14).

In the meanwhile we advise moving on to the following levels and skipping Learn New Words mode (you can skip any session by tapping the button with three dots and selecting a different mode from the ones available).

Our team are aware of this issue and it will be fixed asap.

I hope this clears any confusion. Thanks for your patience.

Best wishes,
Memrise team

Is this a Memrise-wide issue, then? I’ve noticed it in a couple of other courses, as well. If the fix ameliorates other courses, I’d be grateful.

Yes, this can happen on other courses as well. This is known on the forum as the ‘Ghost words’ issue - unfortunately we haven’t been able to find the root cause of the problem yet, but we’re investigating. We’ll post any updates here.

Thanks for your patience.

Hi I have the reverse problem but the same error message text, which is how I got here.

I edited some words in this course and not that’s what I get (I hope the image can load)
