…by our in-house team
I don’t mean the community-created courses aren’t carefully crafted, just not by our in-house team

I don’t follow @alanh
Enlighten me?

Sorry! I was just ‘pulling your leg’ because your post had been interpreted as implying that community-created courses are not carefully crafted.

many thanks for clarifying that, @Lien.

Just for the record: “in-house team” vs. (some of the) “course creators”… Here stays a “community-created course” creator and curator with almost 20 years of experience in teaching and training, and speaking several languages since… she was 3 years old. (Among others, I do train professionals. It is indeed not my main job, but I have a degree in education as well).

Haha yes, I seem to have gotten myself into a bit of a pickle with that one :dromedary_camel:

Fyi, I have edited my comment as it was taken out of context and mis-used in other threads.
Lesson learned

@Hydroptere - do you have access to the off’-topic comments that were sent to a new thread? Lien didn’t mention me by name, but I am the reason that she edited her comments. I posted people telling them that she would rather block people telling the truth than go after cheaters. I am also on several threads that she comes along and locks at her whim. And we both know what she meant by this: “unlike community created courses, official Memrise courses are carefully crafted”. I posted what she said and it was deleted in a matter of minutes. And she had the nerve to say that people misinterpreted what she was trying to say. Even an idiot could have figured out what she was implying. And Arete_Hime is the one that split the discussion and moved half of the posts into another category that I can’t reach. And by the way, Arete_Heme is a person who has to have the last word, even she/he is wrong. If Arete_Hime told you that 1+1=4 and you said no 1+1=2, then you would spend 72 days fighting back and forth with this person for nothing. Even though you know the truth, and everyone else knows the truth, Arete_Heme has to be right at any cause. Lien doesn’t care about the cause, she just locks or deletes whatever she doesn’t like. Sounds to me kind of like a dictator.

Anyway, check out this thread now. It’s all cleaned up. “Which memrise course is considered to be the best?” “Memrise courses of course”.

@hernan.dayoleary3d and @Hydroptere For some reason, Memrise wants to bad mouth community created courses, but they are usually the best courses to take. “Official Memrise courses” are full of errors in translation. I can point out many errors in “Official Memrise courses” if they want me to. And keep in mind that these courses created by Memrise are “carefully crafted”, unlike the courses created by the community.

Lien is probably going to delete this soon, hence the reason why I did not add the @ symbol before her name. I just want others to see what has been posted before she deletes it. And the reason that I did not add the @ symbol before Arete_Hime? I don’t feel like arguing with this person for 15 days.

You’re badmouthing people here, instead of just procedures or things. I think that behavior needs the attention of a moderator.

Right this moment I don’t have the time to give a longer reply to the personal issues you have with me or @lien. If this topic isn’t closed by the time I do, I very unlikely might give a reply to that.

@Arete_Hime ? I understood about half of that.

To all parties: The definition of this category is: "We all get stuck sometimes! If you have a question or need any help with the Memrise website or apps, you’ve come to the right place. Savvy Memrise users will be able to help you out here! Keep learning joyful, everyone!" (accent mine).

Could we all please just tone down the emotions and posturing and “keep learning joyful”. It’s much more enjoyable that way.

Hey Jaime, I understand you think the community courses are better, do you care to tell me what specific community made course is best so I can see it and try it out and maybe judge for myself.

@hernan.dayoleary3d - as @Hydroptere mentioned before [quote=“Hydroptere, post:2, topic:3374, full:true”]
None. A mixture of many does it.

Hi @jaimebrasil,
I regret my wording was misinterpreted and taken out of context. We honestly do appreciate the community-created courses.
A slight downside is that many don’t have audio, contain errors or inconsistencies or are no longer maintained. That often results in a flood of support requests and email reports.
As the new and improved versions of our official courses all have full audio and are being actively monitored and maintained by my colleagues (each of which are native in the taught language), I like to recommend them to learners who are new to Memrise.
I’m here to help learners of any course(s) and creators alike. Therefore I hope we can try to get along and keep the forum fun and useful.
Best wishes,
Lien
