Number of Words In Review Stuck on 25

It’s actually never given me an option for mixed reviews. I noticed that a few times but didn’t mention it anywhere, as I figured I was just somehow overlooking the button, but I’ve never seen an option for that. It doesn’t bother me as much as the 25 word limit, so I hadn’t bothered to try and figure out what was going on there.

All but one of the courses I’m learning are Japanese courses (the other one is an alphabet substitution for hiragana, so it’s sort of related), so I hadn’t worried about a mixed review as I like the organization of the separate courses.

If it ever gives me the option for a mixed review (though it seems like it isn’t going to) I’ll see if it gives me more than 25 words or not.

I use the extra review a lot, where I review even if the button isn’t blue, and I have the same problem with that- no more than 25 words per review- so that’s what bothers me the most. I’m online a lot so I don’t often have many words ready for actual review, so I tend to use the extra review just for practice.

The mixed review button is right on the dashboard. the right up corner

If you ever want to use that

I’ll just add that you need to set your filter (to the right of the button) to a category, not e.g. by recently learned. Otherwise the button won’t be there.

Thanks for the picture Atikker;

and that’s probably why I’ve never seen it, Widle- I only have Japanese on here, so I hadn’t had a reason to select any categories xD I switched and the button did appear. Once I have more than 25 words to review through a mixed review I’ll try and see if it’ll give me more than 25 words in the review.

My biggest issue is still the extra reviewing, though- I do a lot of it, and would prefer to review more than 25 words per session. Thanks for all the help, by the way, I really appreciate it!

For me, the problem persists as a 25 max for mixed review but whatever my setting for the individual courses. Especially now where I have a good handful of courses that keep popping up with a little bit to review, it is really annoying. I did consider bumping the thread myself, but I’m glad someone else did - more than happy to chime in, though  Right now, I have 92 words spread out over nine courses, and it is seriously getting on my nerves that I will have to split that up into four individual reviewing sessions. Something like this seems to be the case every day, so I don’t really even bother anymore - I just let it accumulate.

Interestingly enough, just out of curiosity (because you mentioned it, @jubunu), I did the review for a course with just one item and then clicked the grey review button. That also gets me only 25. So it seems that both the “forced review” and mixed review are broken, and only the one-course-at-a-time-regular-review-if-there-are-enough-items-ready-to-review review can take more than 25 items in one session.

@skinger Yes, that’s the same for me! It sucks that it’s bugged for you too, but I’m glad it’s not just me with the problem! I use the forced review a lot, so it’s incredibly bothersome to have to repeat it over and over just to get in some extra practice for every word in a course.

Hopefully we can get somewhere with this issue, I’d like to see what it’s like to not have to split review sessions into four individual sessions when it could be just one.

Also @skinger, has it always been like this for you, or was it a recent thing that came up? It’s been like this for me since the day I joined, which was months ago x.x

Well, @jubunu, with a solid bunch of Russian courses and learning probably too many words a day, I never got to a point where I thought “Yeah, after these couple of hours of new words and scheduled review, I now want to spend another couple of hours on words not up for review” I think it was the first time I tried out the forced review yesterday, and I only did it because I was curious after what you wrote.

But I can tell you that the regular mixed review used to work. Before I took a week off (in July) and came back to what can best be described as some sort of endless reviewing nightmare, I always did a 50 item mixed review. So if this has never worked for you, it seems like it might be two different, though related, errors.

Indeed. Regular mixed review DID work up until about 2nd week of July. I could tell the day it happened because I added 50 new flashcards a day in May and June, and it definitely began to irritate me to wake up with 500 flashcards and not be able to review them as one stack in the general review as I did before. So I had to forego the added challenge of mixing up all the courses in one review, and instead go course by course…which for some reason still allows me to get 100 words per session.

Oh, you’re right. I thought I didn’t have the problem until I came back from my break, but reading the start of this thread I see that I did indeed notice at the same time you did. Which also means it has been a problem for over a month now.

I also have this problem, trying to set my reviews to anything higher than 25 makes it… stay at 25. I tried different browsers. I’m not sure how long it’s been going on because I normally stay at 25 or under anyway.

@risgrynsgrot, it’s been going on since mid-July. Users have asked for updates several times, but no one seems to care. They were “determined to get rid of these two nasty bugs once and for all” (it seemed to have something to do with a speed review bug) sometime late July. I’ve basically given up now. I’m not going to waste my time talking to people who won’t listen - even if it is an insanely annoying bug.

Thanks. I have close to 10,000 items to review and it would go a bit quicker with this bug fixed.

This is a temporary workaround:

Just gonna bump this up. This issue is still stuck since mid-July. Over 60 days now…

Having this issue still now

it worked for me last weekend… i could easily review 100 phrases… before that could do only 25… have not tried today…

There are two types of review.

  • Normal review when words are due to review
  • Practice review which you’ve already reviewed the words but you would like to get some extra reviewing.

From my observation, practice review will always present 25 random words for you to review. While the normal review will present you the number of words which you set in your learning / reviewing settings.

So if you are presented 25 words only, this is because you are doing practice review.

This issue was fixed in the beginning of February.

I can tell firion is referring to practice review, as I had a look into their account and they have 0 words which are due to review.

Thank you very much… I checked and my mixed reviews work really great…

Ah yes sorry I forgot to check this, that is indeed the case.

Could this be taken as a suggestion instead then? One course I’m taking has like several thousand entries which I may get to eventually, and having to do them only 25 at a time is a lot more stopping and starting than I’d like.
