I’ve been working on finishing Japanese 1 for a while now and really enjoyed it so far. The only problem I have with the course is that they teach you how to read Kanji but it includes no sounds what so ever, so how am I really supposed to learn it? I can read the symbol but I can’t say what it is except for the English translation of the Kanji symbol.
Or am I understanding the use of Kanji wrong?

Well in kanji’s case, there is no voice because some kanjis have multiple readings, depending on their location. So having a voice of all their sounds will probably only confuse -if not frighten- a beginner.
So basically, you learn it by associating the kanji with the given English keyword.
Recommend using the mnemonics given by other users if you find any difficulties.
