My Japanese 01 progress disappeared and many words are in Romaji instead of Hiragana/Kanji

On courses Japanese 1 and 0, some Japanese are spelled with Romaji…

also classic review gives only very few items over and over again

Thank you for reporting.
A migration done on the Japanese learnables went wrong - but nothing irreversible. We’re working on fixing this.

Just wanted to chime in and I’ve got this issue as well for Japanese 1-3, which I had previously fully completed.

I deleted and re-added the courses, will that impact me when the issue is resolved?

No, it will be fine, you will be able to rejoin your course and your progress on the individual items will still be there :+1:

The Levels and Scenarios should now be fixed - for example we can see in Level 16 - Sightseeing - Japanese 1 - Memrise that “o-shiro” is back to being “お城” :japanese_castle:
We’re now running a task which fixes the progress users registered on each learnable, as it was sometimes transferred from a kana/kanji learnable to the corresponding romaji learnable. This will take about an hour.
Please let me know if you still encounter issues.

EDIT: it will take a bit longer to fix progress actually - but it should be fixed by tomorrow. I’ll let you know when it’s back up :+1:

Hello everyone,

As promised, here is the update on this issue for today:

  • The problem still persists for users learning on the Romaji Courses 1, 2, and 3, whereby the progress done on the romaji learnables is currently registered on the kanji/kana learnables.
  • For all other cases (learners learning Japanese in kanji/kana, or learners learning in Early Access on Scenarios), the issue should be fixed and your progress should be back to being correct. Let me know if you perceive otherwise :+1:
    We’ll make sure this is resolved tomorrow.
