My daily streak has reduced

I just noticed that my daily streak has dropped back by one day. Yesterday it was at 200 and today it’s at 199. My current streak is 129, which has accrued since returning from overseas early May. The “200 streak” was accrued within the last year on Memrise prior to being away. Any clues why/how it dropped back by one day?

199 is really odd number for a badge. It should go up by fives

Perhaps they mean the Best Streak counter (in the Pro panel on Home).

Yes, I did mean “best streak” - sorry for the confusion. Isn’t it weird though for it to drop back by one day?

I have ignored it since it seems to be using different criteria to the badge.

The badge is easy to understand, but this thing?

Once the grid showed a gap in my practicing, which wasn’t true, but I still had a Best Streak across that period. I have wondered if it has a different day concept, that doesn’t match my selected timezone.

It seems confusing to have two different mechanisms like this.

Note for Pro users: at the moment, the Learning Streak Graph on the website runs on GMT. We are working on having the graph run on users’ individually set time zones.

Perhaps they are testing changes to it.

I read that, thanks @jimnicholson. It’s now two days since my overall best streak went from 200 days (which it had sat on for ages) and dropped back to 199 days. I wouldn’t call this a major thing in the scheme of things, but it is weird!

Here I am again @jimnicholson - I just worked out the issue! After posting 10 hrs I noted that now my best streak has dropped back to 198 days. I have just gone through my graph and it’s affected by the 365 days ‘maximum’. I was away (and offline) for 37 days (all of April +), so if I count backwards from there, that’s where the 198 days comes in and of course it will slide back from there on a daily basis. At least I know why now!

Oh no, that’s awful - so it’s only your best streak within that window. Good detective work though - thanks for sharing!

So… I think I will continue to ignore this feature. The streak badge seems much more satisfying (and requires less brainwork to understand). Shame it is only per course.
