This almost doesn’t feel like the right category to discuss this, but I can’t think of a better board.
In the [Course Forum] Japanese 1-7 by Memrise thread, user @MarikoMiz discusses several times that there are new versions of the official memrise Japanese learning courses when the user speaks English. For example, the old Japanese 1 course has an icon of a purple girl, and the new course has pink flowers. These new courses are supposed to be better and are recommended over the old courses.
However, when I use the memrise Android app to search for Japanese courses, I only see the old courses. This is because the app is defaulting to assume I speak United States English. The same goes for using memrise.com. The new courses are not found if you say you speak United States English.
The only way to get these courses to show is to force the app or the website to show you courses that are labeled for UK English users.
I feel like the courses should be visible to users with the United States English profile.
