Mems are very small during review

Mems are very small when I review them if I get the answer correct, making them more difficult to read. They are only become full size when I get the answer incorrect.

HI @jellybreadracer

Could you provide a screenshot and a link to the course you’re learning?

I am learning

Basically, I think the problem may be, it has me re-choose a mem each time (it never stays permanently associated). If I get the answer right and chose the mem, it remains small and I cannot look at it long enough to get a screenshot. I am attaching what it looks like before it disappears. If I get the answer wrong, it is big like normal after I re-select the mem.

Thanks!

same pb here

had the same issue on chrome

Same problem here. What gives?

And when I made a mem, it turned into this super long thin column of text!!! Is that part of the same problem???

@BeaTrisy, @MemriseSupport, @Joshua

Can any of you guys tell us if this is supposed to be a permanent feature? Or is it just a temporary glitch?

I really don’t like these mini-mems :rage::rage::rage:

What is supposed to be the actual point of them??? Can someone from the memrise team explain this?

Or is the idea to gradually shrink the mem size so that they become invisible and the whole MEM part of memrise just disappears???

probably the second, unfortunately
this thing appeared immediately after they greyed the attributes, is just poor progamming probably, but
but does not look well for us, the mem-users, in general

Here is a screenshot of nearly the entire screen on my 11" Chromebook:

As you can see, the words “de tas” above the picture of the bag are MINISCULE! When there are mems with more text, then it is even worse; they are totally unreadable.

The main reason I like the community-created courses is the mems and now they are almost worthless. It makes me want to cry :(:disappointed_relieved:

i have the same mems
 it is horrible
but when i look at my mem page on my profile they are normal o_O i do not understand

also my time is weird
 2-3 hours ahead
thou it has the right settings
and at some memrise courses the learned words are not saving
i have to make the tests again
 very frustrating

I’m now seeing the same issue - making a new text-only mem is creating a long thin column of text which is basically unreadable.

Yes, the text in ‘picture mems’ on the web version is now almost too small to read. I’m hoping that BeaTrisey’s reaction in her post above indicates that the change was an unintended consequence and not a planned change!

I’ve also noticed that the “Show Mems”/“Hide Mems” button, which used to display at the foot of the post-review listing page (when the review included a wrong answer) and which fairly recently stopped working, now doesn’t display at all. Another unintended consequence? I think we should be told! :face_with_raised_eyebrow:

I find her reaction puzzling, because doesn’t she have access to Memrise courses from her own computer? She’s supposedly the head of the QA team, so don’t they have test courses, and test cases? Why couldn’t she just look at a course herself and see how the mems are being displayed? Why ask for a screenshot and details about a specific course, if not to delay and hassle the user reporting the problem? They always do this, even when there are multiple people reporting a general problem.

To me it seems like one of their traditional stalling and obfuscation tactics that they use when they don’t want to acknowledge a change or problem. Their other tactic is just to lie and say that the team is “looking into it,” when they know perfectly well that it’s a deliberate, but unpopular, change that they’ve made.

Have you seen the replies from several people?

bump!

(this stupid editor of “discourse” does not even let one decently “bump”, you have to write some crap even everything you want is a simple bump)

The changes to mems were not intentional and is definitely a bug. Due to some side effects from changing part of the website, some other areas such as mems were affected.

We’ve shipped a fix to increase the size of the mems, we will be releasing more fixes to get the mems back to normal.

Most likely to prevent spam.
