Memrise's roadmap for the (near) future

I’m a pro user. I use Memrise myself for improving my languages and for creating courses for my students. I like Memrise, but I feel that, apart from some cosmetic and technical changes, there is no real progress. I would like to know where Memrise is heading to, whether an overhaul of the whole platform is scheduled or whether only interface improvements and some curated courses is all we can expect.
I miss new types of exercises (for example multiple choice selected by the creator of the course) and the possibility of introducing new ways of incorporating other material (for example texts). If Memrise could include more quizzes like Moodle and texts like, for example, lingq, it would be great. Just memorizing words is not the only task when learning a language. I would like a more holistic approach.

Could anyone at Memrise tell us something about the platform’s future? All of us would really appreciate.

Thanks in advance for your time and for maintaining Memrise.

Well, they did add the pronunciation feature to quite a few of the in-house courses recently. That seems like quite a cool feature.

From my learning of Swedish, I would say it is perhaps THE most important task. If you don’t know the vocabulary of a language, you don’t have a chance in hell of making yourself understood or understanding anything written or said by native speakers of the language.

I think it is unrealistic to expect ONE single platform to provide ALL the different input you need to learn a language well. What’s more, it would perhaps be simply too boring, to always go to the same place, all the time.

I have used memrise for vocabulary learning, alongside reading (mostly) crime fiction in Swedish and it has been a fun way to learn the language. I also watched TV programmes for kids in Swedish, listened to the news and so much more! The fun part of the learning process has actually been hunting for different ways to get interesting input and then trying them out. I would never want to rely on ONLY ONE provider for my language learning, to be honest. It would be like going back to the Bad Old Days of only three TV channels

Sure, it’s THE most important task for me too, that’s why I’m using Memrise and I’ve created more than 21.000 flashcards for me and my students. But there are many approaches to “learning words”: just compare Moodle’s and Memrise’s quizzes; Memrise’s possibilities are quite restricted in comparison.

My question remains whether Memrise is going to be more or less as it is right now or the people in charge are thinking of any kind of evolution. I just would really appreciate if they share their plans with us.

Am I asking too much?

Thank you for your sharing your thoughts with me.

DuoLingo and even Quizlet has cool new language learning modes. But frankly speaking if Memrise just spent more time QA testing their iOS/Android apps and making them more robust I would be happy renewing my pro subscription.
