Memrise to Anki

hi everyone,
I searched on Google and although it’s a problem that has been tackled many times, including on this very forum, nothing seems to work with me. I’m trying to export Memrise vocabulary lists and import them into Anki.

your help will be very appreciated !

Hi - I’ve imported several courses into Anki without too much difficulty. I’d like to try to help you. What problems are you having ?

thank you so much. basically everything is a problem.
I tried to export the Memrise files but it was already difficult. I copied and pasted the words, deleted the unwanted columns on excel. then I needed to format the new file into UTF-8 so I changed it into a .txt file but I lost all formatting. so when I imported the file with the Anki add-on, words didn’t match the definitions, some were lost. in three words, a total mess

Gosh, you’re making things very difficult for yourself
There is an add-on that does the import for you, making the whole process as simple as a few clicks. go to https://github.com/wilddom/memrise2anki-extension and install it.
The addon is quite straightforward to use, though contact me again if you’re stuck.
Good luck.

unfortunately, it’s not working for me. when trying to access my Memrise account, Anki says my credentials are wrong and they’re not. it apparently happens to other users too.

Ah, ok, I think I had a similiar problem a couple of weeks ago when Memrise changed their address from www.memrise.com to app.memrise.com. If you look at the Issues tab on the Github page for this addon you will see that someone has posted a solution to this error (cf Import doesn’t work), which is to change all references from www.memrise.com to app.memrise.com within memrise.py. If you have a text editor then a quick find & replace as above should get you up and running. If you struggle with this step then unfortunately you may have to wait until the addon is updated by its creator.
Let me know how you get on.

thanks, I will check that.
