Memrise stole my money

I bought memrise pro life-time on my iPad on July 13th, my credit card was charged, but until now the pro feature has been activated, even when I clicked ‘Restore Purchase’ and sign out then sign in again.

I sent an email to [email protected] but didn’t get any answer from Memrise.
I also reported to Apple, but it said “This order is not refundable”

Now I just want to get my money back. Someone please help!

Thanks for letting us know. I’m so sorry to hear this!

The Restore purchase function should work correctly:

Can you please try the following:

  • In the App, tap on the ‘Pro’ tab
  • Scroll to the bottom of that page
  • Click ‘Restore Purchase’

That should activate your membership.

Alternatively if you would like a refund, you would need to get in touch with Apple directly to request this. (Unfortunately Apple do not allow developers such as ourselves to access the refunds system).

You can view your Memberships or subscriptions here:

  • On the Home screen, tap Settings.
  • Tap App and iTunes Stores.
  • Tap your Apple ID.
  • Tap View Apple ID. You might need to sign in.
  • Under Subscriptions, tap Manage.*
  • Tap the subscription that you want to manage.
  • Use the options to manage your subscription.

Is this an automatic answer from bots?
I said in the first post that I have tried all of your suggestions:

  • Restore Purchase didn’t work
  • Report to Apple got "not refundable"
    If you cannot refund then could you activate my pro feature manually?

The above would not be an automatic answer from bots :slight_smile:

  • Can you send us a screenshot showing what happens when you press Restore Purchase button?

  • Can you also provide a screenshot of the “not refundable” response from Apple?

  • Finally, can you confirm your Memrise username for the account where you made the purchase?

Unfortunately we cannot manually activate iOS subscriptions, but hopefully we can resolve this situation.

  1. When I press Restore Purchase, it kept spinning like this, and nothing happened:

  2. My Memrise username that made the purchase is “gaumap.11214”

Thanks for the screenshots. Can you un-install the app and re-install it? Can you then sign back in with the same username and password, and restore purchase. Can you also do the above over a strong wifi connection. Please let me know if this works…

Regarding the second screenshot, Apple should be able to issue a refund but you may need to click the “Contact iTunes Store Support” option.

Finally I could restore purchase by restarting my ipad, then un-install the app and re-install it. It really was a very bad experience for me.
