Memrise Pro

Hello! I’ve been considering upgrading to Memrise Pro, but was wondering if I could get some feedback from those already using it. What are the pros and cons? Have you felt a significant difference? What features do you love that I couldn’t get elsewhere?

Thank you all for your honest feedback!

Best,

I like the videos from memrise official courses. The people they have chosen are fantastic.

I also love the immersion videos on the official Memrise courses. I think they have videos for most of the major languages. However I believe it is only available on mobile. They do add something more than just memorizing words. The speed tests are pretty fun because you have to recall words quickly (and you get a lot of points if you’re into that). Personally I don’t use the listening tests because it’s not hard for me to listen to one word at a time and know what it is in my target language, because my grandma spoke a littke to me when I was little so I can’t really give feedback on that. The stats are pretty cool, although I don’t think you can really analyze them to maximize your learning as they advertise. Maybe you can.

Overall I would say it’s worth it if you are committed to learning!

My Pro membership expires soon and I won’t be renewing.

I don’t use mobile, so no videos, etc.

The stats are nice, and the main reason I paid for pro, but they are wrong, and have been wrong for at least a year. The staff has no desire to fix it.

So basically I am paying for the speed tests and difficult words. I rarely use the speed test, and while I do use the difficult words part, that single feature isn’t worth the fee.

Generally, the staff here has no desire to fix bugs that have existed for over a year (more than just the stats being wrong) and have been discussed multiple times in the forums. I’ve found the website to actually be slowly getting worse, not better. There are lots of things out there where the developers care and put effort into improving the product and those developers are the ones that better deserve payments.
