Hello,

Why are the new courses basically vocabulary lists? I preferred having meaningful sentences. It has been shown time and again that rote memorization of vocabulary is ineffective for acquiring a new language (especially without images to give it context).

Each lesson should have some basic phrases that correspond to the vocab being taught. I discontinued going through the spanish courses for this reason, and may discontinue the german courses as well if they do not bring in more phrases. I am still enjoying polish because of the phrases and vocab that is present.

I’m very interested in the effectiveness of different language learning approaches, at a practical level.

I was wondering if you could add some links to studies that demonstrate the failure of rote memorization, specifically using online flashcards? Thanks.
