Mandarin Chinese 1 by memrise - punctuation in a definition?

I think it is poor to give a word and have us rebuild an exact English definition, including placement of punctuation. I have to type specifically that 女 is “woman; female”, not 'woman female" or “woman” or “female” or any other placement of ‘;’. Some of them force an exclamation mark in the definition even! Seems like the wrong things to memorize. instead of making me build out le = “action” “completed” “marker” with three words, there should just be several rival definitions and I can choose the correct one.

This gets even worse on android where I need to use the mini-keyboard only and am expected to look at ‘hao3’ and type “well; good”. it seems so arbitrary to me that if I do “good; well” or miss a semi that it is “wrong”. again, seems like a great thing to go from the more open definition to have us type a definitive character or pinyin but a lot worse to go from a character and type the English definition letter by letter including punctuation.

I’m not sure if it’s different on Android, but I get away with just typing “woman” on the computer. On the select an answer, I can usually also just select one of the choices separated by semi colons, and it still marks it correct.
