Memrise has made many changes in the belief that they were beneficial without asking the community for feedback. Removing Mems, adding Ziggy, adding auto-accept. There wasn’t even an option to reenable it if we wanted to.
In the rush to gain new users, memrise has lost the trust of the existing user base. @BenWhately@OliviaZavala Please, hear us. Put out a survey asking how much users trust Memrise. Beta test new features. Put up a community post asking for feedback on changes. Do one of these things.
Many of us paid for Pro because we trusted Memrise. That trust is gone. Trust will have an effect on your bottom line. It will come in a four years. Then it will be too late.
It is already much too late. They have already made very very very clear that they do not care even a tiny whit about the pre-existing userbase. It has been blindingly obvious for over a year. I’m puzzled that you think there’s any chance they care whether any of us “trust” them. They don’t. They hate us. They hold us in contempt. They pretty much said so (with more flowerly less nasty words) last year, although this attitude from them has been showing for well over two years by now.
We only need two things:
Memrise should provide a way to download complete, usable backups of user-created courses. We who spent hundreds of hours of our time making this courses should have a way to get copies of them.
Some alternative to memrise, made by other people, that has features similar to what memrise had a few years ago.
Stop complaining. Install uBlock and get rid of Ziggy shit. Install Tampermonkey and get rid of auto-accept. Start using the “Groups” tab instead of the “Home” tab.
Consider using Anki instead of memrise. Use memrise2anki-extension to convert your courses.
My point is, the memrise guys are deaf to your words, since they are kinda retarded. They are simply being disrespectful. I have paid for a lifelong Pro subscription, but after the recent changes I have no doubts, that I’m going to abandon memrise someday without any regrets.
Respect yourself and your time. Be rational. You always have a choice.
