"Load more..." button added on Groups page

This new ‘feature’ has completely destroyed my routine for doing my daily reviews. I used to be able to see at a glance all of my courses and their current review counts on the groups page, and I would frequently reload it to get updated counts as I worked through them every day.

Now I can see five courses, and I’m expected to click “Load more…” and wait several seconds before the next five show up and so on. I have thirty courses in total and counting, so this is not exactly practical for me to have to redo every time I want to see the updated counts.

The groups page was my last method to conveniently review my courses every day on Memrise, primarily because it had up until now been spared in these consistently terrible updates, and it’s finally been messed with and ruined. This has been asked so many times now, but it’s always been ignored: Why fix something that isn’t broken? Please consider changing it back, Memrise. I genuinely don’t know how I’m supposed to practically review my courses anymore. The dashboard is a disaster, so the only option left to me as far as I can see is to bookmark every course and load all thirty of them into separate tabs, which I know full well is going to be too tedious to keep up. If anyone has any other ideas, I’m all ears. I don’t know if I can continue using Memrise as it is now.

Please stop making our lives more difficult with these surprise ‘improvements’, Memrise.

TinyCaterpillar: yes, exactly.

Memrise team: this is just the last straw for me. Why are you so resistant to the idea that your users need to be able to see ALL their courses at once? What about this concept is so difficult for you to grasp?

In order to plan out our learning strategy for each session, day, etc., we need to be able to see how many mems we have for review in each of our courses, in one glance. Having to click through multiple menus and “load more” pages just adds frustration in exchange for no benefit whatsoever. It might seem like a small thing, but many of us logging in here 3-4-5x per day, and are maintaining dozens of courses. Small frustrations are not small when they add up over time.

This was why everyone flipped out when you changed the Home Page interface last December. Amazingly, you still haven’t fixed those changes - the Home Page remains unusable. But there was a silver lining to that disaster, which was that the heavy user community figured out that the “Groups” page actually already gave us everything we wanted: a quick, easy way to see the relevant information on all our courses without tons of unnecessary buttons and menus and white space. What a relief!

Until now. Now we have to “load more” every time we check into the site. Thanks, Memrise.

Why would you change this? Why? Why? Why? I admit it, compared to the December debacle, this represents a relatively small degradation in the usability of the site. But again, in exchange for no benefit whatsoever.

The real issue is that I just don’t trust you guys anymore. You genuinely seem committed to screwing up your product. And when the heavy users find backdoor ways to make it usable again, you find ways to screw that up too.

I don’t understand why the memrise team do such an effort to ruin our life. By using the Groups page We showed that we are against on your last update in the main page. Now, you destroyed the groups page. Why do you insist to do such a useless update? In addition, this update changed the arrangement of my courses. Why do I have to find my French lesson among Russian lessons?

I share your frustration. It would be fine-ish if clicking load more actually loaded them instantly, but no, you have to wait like 5 seconds which feels like an eternity when you wait for it. The home page has such a terrible interface I just can’t use it, the courses page is the only good page but now they screwed it up, which is just going to bring annoyance to my daily reviews.

And it is not implemented right. Just tested my groups. For one group I saw no sign at all it was loading, so I clicked “Load more…” a few times. Now I’ve got the same courses displayed several times under that one group.
The Groups page is now as slow as the dashboard but with more buttons to click. And I always have a few tabs open to read while the dashboard loads.

Hi, I started using this Group feature after reading Tinycatapillar’s post when the unpractical dashboard page was rolled out. It’s an ingenious idea! I loved it so far for the ability to organise my modules. But alas, ….

At a first glance, this collapsible Groups looked a space saver. However as soon as I clicked on [load more], I was dismayed to see what was unfolded. Firstly, it takes time, secondly, the orders got jumbled, thirdly, the same modules appear more than once. I had 60 modules in one Group, so I thought this has caused the issue. Then I started to break up the Group with 60 modules, by creating new Groups. The system tells me that a new Group has been created, but [load more] button does not show up the new ones on the screen. Is there a limit to how many modules can be stored in one Group or how many Groups you can create?

It’s interesting to note that if you add a course before expanding the branch, the new one gets added to the No. 6 position, hence the others (if you had more than 6) are pushed down in sequence. I listed my courses in a certain order, so I don’t like this. The other thing is that, if you expand the branch by “load more”, you can’t collapse it (although this is not an Outline view).

I need the groups page as well, because I grouped english and german courses, it’s mixed now.
I also review course by course, because sometimes the same word has different answers and/or added ‘the’ or ‘a’ ot ‘to’ etc. So, I have to know, wich word is reviewed in which course, that’s not visible when you review from the homepage, when all words are reviewed in one session……

But: The last big bug on the webpage in learning new words took 5month, one bug in iOS is still present since month; the last updates were terrible, I’m not convinced in buying a pro membership……
