Some letters appear as blank boxes but when copied and pasted into something else appear different. Is this a glitch?

Well, everything is fine on my end.
For me, it looks like your browser can`t handle some of the (Japanese) signs for whatever reason.
Try a different browser to see if the issue continues to exist.
What OS and browser are you using to run Memrise?
I fixed it, downloaded a japanese word pack for my keyboard and it works now.
I am having issue with less used hiragana. As an example, I canβt get the " with γ€. using IME fot zu will only allow γ. dzu comes as dγ.
@Roman_Sillb9, if I understand your problem correctly ,you are having with the γ€. it is not d, you have to type it as tsu. So γ€γ you type tsuzu and IME Japanese will translate it as γ€γγ
for γ₯, you typically type βduβ, not dzu.
