I don’t find the default multiple choice tests useful in any way, I find writing down the words I am trying to learn much more helpful.
I did give it a try, I started the official Arabic course with the default multiple choice method, finished the first course and realize I didn’t know any Arabic. I could match patterns when I saw them on screen, but I couldn’t write a single word on down on my own when I tried. Then I downloaded a user script that lets me type words out, did the same course again and suddenly I could read and write Arabic.
I know it is possible with user scripts, but those are a pain to set up every time I want to use a different browser, or a different computer. If someone on the internet can make a script that fixes that issue and the memrise devs could just copy-paste that code, I don’t see why they couldn’t add a setting to switch between typing only and multiple choice questions.
