Learnt items/progress disappearing

Hi,

in this beginners course http://www.memrise.com/course/1091685/sgjl-05-core-2k6k-optimized-vocabulary-pt-1/

  • i say that so you understand that i had NO reasons to restart it or anything something - my progress is displayed as 0 items learned, but more then 15.000 points earned , and 2 difficult items to review If I would have restarted the course, I wouldn’t get difficult items to review, right?

Sorry, I’m not sure I understand your question.

If I would have restarted the course, I wouldn’t get difficult items to review, right?

You want to restart this course, or you have restarted the course?
You are surprised to have difficult words when you have just started the course?

@sircemloud: I did not restart the course, but my learning page shows 0 items learned. This is what I’ve said in the title. 0 items learned, and 2 diff items to review. And more than 15.898 points. Where did my learned items vanish? I don’t really remember how many items i’ve learned, probably around 2 levels of the course

I don’t want to restart anything, the course is for beginners, i’ve said above i have 0 reasons to restard such course

Hey Hydroptere, I believe the course creator edited the testing direction of your course.

I did an experiment to check and it seems most likely. It seems the difficult word is saved, however the actual progress is not.

ach so, @Joshua, many thanks!

Edit: the course creator answered along the lines of having to change the testing direction. Some user complained about something (not me!, this time)

This happened as I changed the test direction in the first part. It was accidentally set to “Japanese Vocabulary” with “Audio Prompt” but was meant to be “Japanese Vocabulary” with “English Translation Prompt” and audio active on the course. This did erase progress though I hope not too many were affected and the new direction of testing is more effective. Hydroptere, I’m not sure how to get rid of the “difficult word” notification other than you resetting the course progress.

I had also altered the Hiragana and Katakana course so that audio prompt will test Hiragana word (before it tested Romaji) and Katakana word (before it tested Hiragana). That also reset progress but again I hope the change will prove to be a better method. Mastering Hiragana and Katakana will be essential prior to getting into the grammar and vocabulary courses.

I also removed the “Test Text Input” on the RTK/KO2k1 Kanji 1-555 course, but this did not reset anyone’s progress. Reason for that is to remove the need to force people to write out Kanji with an IME. Instead, I’ll just recommend that beginners write down tested kanji at the end of each review summary. Most won’t but at least they have the option and those that do write down will find it beneficial with the trade off being time taken to write them down. Same goes for Vocabulary.

Yes, I changed the direction.

it is ok, Charles… really

many thanks for your answer
