Leaderboard not showing up on app

So this started ever since the change to the solar system look. The leader board is empty when I click on it to see where I rank. I was waiting to see with every update if it would be fixed, but it has not changed. (I just downloaded the most recent update.)

Before this version, it was frustrating that there was no constant link to the leader board, that you could only access it after finishing a session. Now I see that within a course, you can access it, but in some of the courses, there is no leader board icon (The championship urn).

Also in the courses that do have the icon, or after I complete a session, when I click on the icon, it takes me to an empty board. No names show up. It just has the top part with the dropdown “weekly, monthly, daily, etc” menu which does not produce any results.

Is this section still being worked on, or do I need to reinstall?

And why do some courses not have the leader board icon at all?

I attached a pic of the empty board.

It looks like your leaderboard is not loading automatically.

Can you lock then unlock your device with the leaderboard open? Maybe this will force your leaderboard to load.

Ok this worked, but I had to do the exact same thing every time I clicked on it. (I moved around the app checking other boards). Since its not automatically loading, what should I do? I’m on a galaxy s2 tablet android 5.1.1

Also, should there be a leader board in every course? Not all the courses have the icon.

This issue is something that I am having a problem with as well. When I click on the championship urn to view the leader board it just shows up as empty, and this also happens when I am on the end session screen as well.

In the same case with VonneRusse, the issue started when the space look update came out. I use the app as a beta tester and when I first came across the issue I sent a bug report to the Memerise team and I thought this would be fixed in the next version, but when the next version came it never was fixed.

It is quite annoying not to being able to have a look at the leader board and it just showing up as blank. I don’t know if this is just an issue that’s only affecting just us both or if others are having the same problem, but can someone from the memrise team please look into this. ( I forgot to mention that I have tried the method that josh mentioned above, but it only works some of the time when I turn my phone off and on to force the leader board to show.)

Here is also a screenshot from my device.

@VonneRusse @fusil24
We are unsure what is causing this problem to happen. I’ve tested with several different devices and the leaderboard appears all the time.

What android version are you using fusil24?

Hi Joshua, here is the information-
Device- Motorola G phone
Android version- 4.4.4
Memrise version- 2.9_3719426 release_week_23

@Joshua, hi, I am just wondering if there is any more progress into finding a solution to the problem that I am having.

Hi fusil24, I had to restart my tablet recently, and yesterday I noticed the leaderboards were loading for me. But I’m not sure if that was the solution because I see there has been a recent update (I haven’t downloaded it yet). My theme switched over without me updating it all those weeks ago, so I can’t tell if the fix was from the recent update or from me restarting my tablet. But restarting your phone is something to try if you haven’t done it already.

That seems strange, because when I tried to restart my phone it didn’t solve the issue for me. Perhaps the restart did manage to fix it for you, in which case you have been quite lucky. The only thing that I could think of in my case for it still showing up as blank, is that I have quite an old phone version but I am not sure really.

Well that sucks. I’m sorry it didn’t help. Hopefully they can figure out why it’s not automatically loading. Maybe more people will see this and speak up so they can figure out the common thread, because I’m sure we couldn’t have been the only two people this happened to.

I thought that I would bring this issue back up again, seeing as it has still not been resolved for me, and there was no word from the anyone on this issue. The ongoing problem with the leader board not showing up is still there, and this for me does not seem like it is an issue with my device but with the app. The only way that I can temporarily get it to work again is, having to hold down the power button for a few seconds to force the leader board to show which still works some of the time, but I have to quickly hold down the power button button and then click on the trophy symbol in quick succession in order for it to work.

I did also a factory restore on my device when long story short I accidentally locked myself out of my device, and this made the leader board work for a few days, and then It went back to having the same issue all over again. Is it possible for @Joshua or @Lien to take a look into this.

Hi @fusil24,

Unfortunately, we are still unable to reproduce the problem.

The leaderboard shows correctly on all our devices.

Out of interest, how much free storage space do you have on your device?

@Joshua, That seems really strange but the issue still persists for me and the leader board is still blank.

@sifushano This is how much space I have on my device

Well it would appear that it’s not a cache issue then

Here is a screen shot of an Android 4.2.2 device running 2.9_3719546_release-release_week_31 with only about 800MB free space. No issue with seeing the leaderboard, but by chance, came across this very intermittent Android Bugs (although I have been sporadically seeing this for a few weeks at least now ) Note that I also see it on my 5.0.2 SM-P905 …

It would seem not specially when I have a lot of space left.

Interesting, do you think that even though the leaderboard shows up for you, this intermittent bug that occurs for you suggests that there could be something going wrong? If using a near enough similar device version still shows a slight bug, then maybe something is going wrong with the version I am using causing the problem that I am having.

@fusil24 I wouldn’t suspect there to be a problem with the Android version you are using. Below is a screenshot of the leaderboard working correctly with Android version 4.4.4.

@sifushano It’s scheduled to be fixed so stay tuned. :penguin:

Thanks for the update @Joshua

Hi everyone! This is my first post on the forum.

There must be a conflict with Android’s Accessibility. I found the problem after installing an app called Dashdow for What App. Now, stop 3rd party accessibility services and try (You can see Settings> Accessibility> Services) I hope it is a clue to the developers.

Hi, I thought that I would resurrect this issue with the leaderboard as it was never solved for me, and I just still find it annoying having to use the temporary solution of pressing the power button a few seconds for it to force load. I was wondering if @Joshua would know on anything else that can be done to find a solution to this issue. I know that this issue has affected others before so there must be something that is causing this to happen.
