Latin transliteration for Russian 1?

I’m new to Memrise (I’ve been taking the Russian course for about a week now,) and I was wondering if there was a way to switch from Cyrillic to the Latin alphabet when it comes to the language the questions and answers are displayed in? Or, failing that, a way to at least display the Latin transliteration of words as well as the Cyrillic spelling.

I’ve gotten to the point where I can recognize the way certain terms look in Cyrillic, but trying to type them out without being able to use the Latin transliteration is starting to give me headaches.

(Please don’t comment just to criticize me for not wanting to use the Cyrillic alphabet. I tried learning Russian on Duolingo for a bit, and when I reached out for help with a similar issue, I received nothing more than harsh criticism.)

I guess you are taking an official memrise course? There is a course forum for that one:

Though I am not hopeful that they will change their course structure you could ask there.

But there are lots of user generated courses, maybe you could browse there and find one with the feature you miss. On the other hand - I know you don’t want criticism - but still: maybe you should start with a pure alfabet course in russian. There should be tons of them out there. I was dabbling with Urdu (a little like arabic) and found lots of courses teaching the alfabet.

One more suggestion: There should also be courses that don’t require typing. Could maybe help with recognizing structures.

Thanks! I’ll take this over there. At this point I’d just be pleased if I didn’t have to type in Cyrillic.

Hello.

You don’t say how you type in Russian. If you use the buttons supplied by Memrise, it must be really long and and inconvenient. It would be worth the time to install a Cyrillic keyboard layout, with some practice you would type in Russian as easily as in English, after you have learnt the keys. You might want to have a look here (for Windows):

or here (for Mac):

I hope my remarks were not irrelevant, and sorry about my awkward English

Regards,

Yves

I use the buttons supported by Memrise. I’m not really a fast typist in general, so trying to type in Cyrillic (even with a keyboard layout) would be kinda stressful for me. I’ve been trying to find another course on here that uses Latin transliteration, but so far I’ve had no luck.

Thank you though. And don’t worry about your English, I understood you fine. :grinning:
