Google’s TTS (Text-To_Speech) App for Android can be used to listen to any web page text as an aid to language learning.
- Install Google’s TTS App from Google Play.
- In “Settings”, “Accessibility”, “Text-to-Speech output”, there should be an engine.
- In the settings for the text-to-speech engine, install the language you want to learn.
- Find any web page text in your chosen language. (Project Gutenberg has books in most languages and a good place to start.)
- Tap the icon for TTS and select the text and touch the play button.
I tried it in Finnish and it works quite well. I think there are other TTS engines, but Google is free.
I don’t have an iPhone, but there is probably something similar available. I don’t know, as yet, if this works on desktop systems.
