Khmer Vocabulary By Frequency (top 1000 words) "Could not load the session. Sorry."

Hi,

I’m learning the set mentioned in the title and after level 22 get the error message “Whoops. Could not load the session. Sorry.”

Press F12 and load the web console.

Probably you will find a red JS error message in the console.

And then what do I do?

These are the errors:

raven.js:116 Mixpanel error: “mixpanel” object not initialized. Ensure you are using the latest version of the Mixpanel JS Library along with the snippet we provide.

mixpanel-2-latest.min.js:9 Mixpanel error: “mixpanel” object not initialized. Ensure you are using the latest version of the Mixpanel JS Library along with the snippet we provide.

Sorry, there are three:

@yonsonyon

Passing level 22 has completed this course for now.

All levels 23-51 are marked as incomplete in the level designer by the course creator.

Level 23++ crashes and I can replicate this on my own, because there is only one definition (the target language).
The 2nd (source) English translation definition column is left out.

Now I remember seeing this “Woops, Could not load the session. Sorry” error, which is an internal Memrise error, but not a red JS error in the web console:

It happens when there is only one definition column.
Memrise requires (at least) two.

You better should start to learn finished courses.

I see,

Thank you very much for the explanation Thomas. It is very helpful. What a shame they did not finish it.

Memrise’s own error message might be confusion for you as the end-user (the server log might contain the real internal error), but the problem is related to the user-created course itself and that their system/code runs into a severe problem.

Only the course creator (or contributors) can fix the error themselve: Khmer Vocabulary By Frequency (top 1000 words) "Could not load the session. Sorry." - #6 by Thomas.Heiss

Well, you need to contact the course author, when they plan to complete the rest of the levels 23++ with the 2nd English definition (translation) column.

If it would a small error for a single word/level, Lien of Memrise could have invited the course author if you tag her, if you can not tag the author on this forum personally (missing account).

Of course it makes no sense to learn any incomplete course.
Can’t you find any other Khmer courses?

You better remove all this crap what you wrote above.

You can NOT blame Memrise staff for user-created courses, nor can you blame the system and severe error, when the course author is using the course level editor wrong (not completing database defintions and missing a 2nd definition column).

Maybe it would have been better that the author would not have added multiple words definitions or grouping words to the levels in the Khmer language, but better left out all incomplete levels before moving the course public.

Wasn’t there a private course flag too?

Only finished public user-created courses make sense!

To repeat: Don’t blame Memrise staff for user-created courses!!!

Summary:
Try to find a different finished Khmer course and double check before with each level, if ALL words have two definition columns, before starting the course!

Hi Thomas,

Well given the issue has been addressed now I will remove the post. Thank you for your help on this matter. Unfortunately the other user generated content for this subject is not very useful - that was the only set that offered any real significant value - but that’s an entirely separate issue.
