Japanese 0 - ごちそうさまです

In Survival kit - part 2 you learn that “thank you for the food” is ごちそうさまです
I have learned before that you should say ごちそうさまでした after a meal.

What is the correct sentence to use after a meal?

That translation isn’t wrong. But ごちそうさまです is present tense and ごちそうさまでした is past tense. If you’re saying it after a meal, then you’d use the past tense.
