ISSUE RESOLVED! :) New Issue with commas not being accepted

I’m having issues with commas no longer being accepted in my Mandarin courses. This is a change from yesterday.

看你并不感到惊讶,你肯定已经知道了 (my entry)
看你并不感到惊讶,你肯定已经知道了 (memrise answer rendering)

Any ideas? (Note, this is a different issue from the commas as separators issue.)

Update that commas are not being accepted at all in Memrise. This is not related to Mandarin.

Looks like it misses the space after the comma.

So I futzed around and even switching back and forth to entry exactly as it appears (without space) it is still not accepting any answers that require commas.

This is different from yesterday at ~ 10pm PST.

The comma that’s in the first line that you posted (that is, 看你并不感到惊讶,你肯定已经知道了) is a Chinese comma. The comma in the second line that you posted (看你并不感到惊讶,你肯定已经知道了) is a normal comma.

These probably need to match in order to have the answer be accepted. What are you using to input Chinese characters?

the commas should match does not matter what

I am using the windows ime for inputing chinese - like many other users - so for commas I press as always the comma taste on the normal keyboard. One cannot expect zillion users to change their IT devices plus all habits just the fits the moods of memrise

Thanks for the reply @neoncube

  1. I tried your line of thinking and switched commas to American, still no dice.
  2. In the review screen (of an almost correct word) I even copied and pasted the correct answer from the screen into the answer field - still not accepted.
  3. Since the course I’m studying is my course, I even went in and edited the commas to chinese commas - it STILL doesn’t work
  4. This is definitely not an IME issue. It was working the previous day, now it’s not.

So the issue is commas being accepted at all.

Adding just as reference: I’m using Sougou IME. I also switched to OSX native IME just to try. 没有成功!

Just got a very nice note from Memrise developer. They have fixed the issue.

Thanks so much for your help @BeaTrisy ! :grinning:

Glad to hear it
