I have two questions: first is Welsh memrise limited to 52 words and secondly, I’m not getting any sound apart from the Welsh word for shoe: esgid - for some very strange reason. Any ideas?
there are no strange reasons… in general, one has to explore memrise a bit, before starting to learn, etc
happy learning
There is no official Welsh course on Memrise. What you’re taking is a user-created course. So basically it is not that the sound doesn’t work, it’s that the user didn’t upload them.
Thanks Hydroptere - I think the next contributor answered my question - it’s a user-created course so no sounds were uploaded. I have explored quite a bit but I still don’t understand why I’m limited to 52 words unless it’s that bit top left of the ‘home’ screen that says something about completing 3 days in a row to unlock the next stage. I guess it’s probably that…
No you see @CarolineParkinson89 , that also has to do with the idea of it being a user-created course. I’m assuming you’re taking this course:
This course has 52 words because its creator (mammoth) only made 52 words. Meaning that you just finished the course!
No need to fret though, there are quite a few of other Welsh courses you can try.
Happy learning!
Here’s all the Welsh courses on this site.
If you’re at a loss at where to start, don’t be afraid to ask out on the forum. I might not be studying Welsh, but other users are, and they’d be sure to help.
Good luck.
I’m lost @RyouBakura; where’s “here”? I thought you might be posting a link, but there’s nothing there… Thanks again for your help and encouragement…
If you’re going to navigate the site you’ll need more self-sufficiency than this. The right link and thing to do was posted in the second post.
I only see 15 courses there.
These look okay:
Sorry, could of sworn I sent this link:
Thanks @Arete_Hime but if there was a second post, I didn’t see it. Thanks also for the useful links to more resource. I’m already at Level 19 on Duolingo and Challenge 1 of Level 2 of SSIW.com plus I’m pretty proficient at IT. It seems that @RyouBakura had perhaps not posted the link he/she thought he/she had; which would explain why I couldn’t see it, but he/she has now, so I’m grateful to you both - thanks.
