Is there a way to get rid of the Memprize pop-up?

So yesterday afternoon when I logged in, I got the pop-up. Followed the link, took part in the research, finished the whole hour (hated the whole experience), finished it up with comments, gave my user name, my email address, the whole package.

But I still can not login without getting the pop-up – and if there is a way to close it, I couldn’t find it. So any time I log in (something I do a few times a day) I meet this annoying pop-up, which makes me load a page I have already read and no further interest in, and only then can I come back to do the watering/reviewing I wanted in the beginning.

Tried refreshing the dashboard page, doesn’t help either.

Does anyone have any suggestions?

Hi, did you block cookie access on Memrise by any chance?

Every time I go to memrise.com I also get this memprize thing. Luckily it disappears when Itap somewhere on page

It is rather annoying isn’t it. I clicked through to find more information, but it stills pops up and is hard to get rid of. I have no solution but to refresh the page.

I was thinking their strategy was to annoy people into doing since they aren’t actually giving you anything for your time. Sounds like they will keep annoying users whether you give them an hour or not so all the more reason to not bother with it.

The pop-up shows once daily. To close it you have to click outside of it.
What’s the big deal?

No, not daily. EVERY TIME I visit memrise.com website. It is a little bit annoying

My bad. After restarting browsers the pop-up shows again for me.

If you have Adblock you can block that pop-up with those filters:

memrise.com##.modal.modal-memprize.js-modal-memprize.active
memrise.com##.modal-backdrop.in.js-modal-memprize-backdrop

@Joshua: Yeah, I use mostly public computers and therefore private browsing windows, so that might be the reason. But mostly my problem was that I couldn’t find a way to close the window – but as @Rodyzi pointed it out, you can close it by clicking outside its frame. (It wasn’t that intuitive to me, I was looking for an X, preferably in the upper right corner.)

We’re rolling out a fix. The Memprize popup shouldn’t appear anymore once you’ve closed it.

Hmmm… I’ve just tried it again, and it still appears.
I get enough spam in my mail bex, I don’t expect to get spammed every time I logon here.

I think I’ll give Memrise a miss for a while until this is sorted.

At least this newer version has got a “No thanks” button. A small consolation!

What browser are you using?

Is anyone else using incognito mode, since this is the main reason why you’ll keep seeing the Memprize popup.

I’m using Firefox. The thing that bugs me is that this popup appears ‘after’ I’ve logged on. The code should acknowledge my first ‘no thanks’ click and not show me the popup any more. Instead I keep getting shown it.

I’d like to know whether your logging out and back into the website, or using private browsing mode? Are you also regularly switching between different computers?

I clicked the No Thanks on the pop-up and it totally froze my computer–I had to restart. Is that a glitch?

In the future, I’ll try clicking outside of the box as others have suggested.

Ok–when I click “set a goal”–it lets me do that, then brings the popup back up. It will NOT let me click anywhere to get rid of it and freezes my computer. I just added three small courses yesterday so to add daily goals I’m going to have to freeze my computer and restart three times. :frowning:

I don’t use Memrise in incognito mode and I get the stupid pop-up every time.

The popup is now nastier. Won’t go away anymore, unless I close browser from “x”. Using chrome and no incognito. Have typed in my mailaddress several times.
