Excluding the long-standing regression in the IOS app where you have to sometimes hit the course entry 10-20 times to open it up:
There are many other issues in the UI that does not make it smooth for language learning:
The list of courses can’t be filtered, sorted, or otherwise organized, there’s really no obvious default mode for the listing at all, resulting in constant hunting down for the next course to finish. This works for someone who has 2-3 courses only but that’s most likely an excemption for a majority of Memrise users, at least those who use this for a longer time.
There is no UI to flag that a certain word should not be used for learning, either due to it being obvious, or wrong, too convoluted or otherwise not applicable.
The beauty of Memrise was the Memes, quick images (note the name of this product), that’s missing in the iOS version.
No way to make courses in iOS as a huge majority of Internet users today are mobile or tablet users.

You can’t see all the alternative words of sentences in the iOS app when learning, unlike the web site (free again)
There’s no feature to group courses so you have all the let’s say Italian courses in one folder, all Spanish in another and so on. Pretty much standard with most UIs today to organize content.
Lack of meaningful statistics, such as average number of new words learned per day, how many points in average per day and so forth, to see trends. Even better would be statistics to show what parts need more learning connected together with having to learn those words better.
Non-latin languages in multi-selections are drawn with very small fonts so even reading glasses can’t properly see weak differences in letters (such as Hindi/Sanskrit).
This was just a quick three minute dump of issues, there are more. So far the bug fixes in Memrise has not fixed regressions, and the new features such as the odd new UI layers that makes the UI busy with features that are mostly to make the app sticky rather than helping developers has not been exactly promising. Especially for paid customers.
Sorry for the delay in response here- we’re working through a bit of a backlog. It’s great to get your feedback on this. We’re constantly looking for ways to improve the UI and make it more intuitive for users so it’s great to hear user insights.

Would this be for official courses, or community-created? Please note that on iOS, Speed Review is available on official Memrise courses and it becomes active once you learn at least 3 words in the course. For courses where Speed Review is not available (i.e., community created courses), the mode icon will be greyed out. For courses where the mode is available, the icon will be blue.

These are for community-created (or personal) courses, there are so many languages that are non-Memrise created and I doubt they will ever be (small market for classical Tibetan for example…)
Same for Speed-review, it should cover all classes, not just Memrise-generated. Note that it’s available on the web interface and with Android so I doubt this is a technical issue.
