On Level 30 of the Intermediate French course by Coralie there are two different French words with same English translation which means one only has a 50% chance of getting the right answer. The two French words are: “le tract” and “le prospectus” with the translation for both being “the leaflet”. Can you please take a look at this @cos?

Originally, that course had those as alts for each other, so you could type either le tract or le prospectus for either one and it would be right. Sometime in the past year, one of the other co-maintainers converted this course to one with a synonyms column, after I suggested it in a discussion on the course forum. So now instead of being alts, they’re synonyms, which is better since it makes sure you learn both and don’t forget one.
What should happen is, if you get the leaflet that wants “le prospectus” and you type “le tract”, it tells you “sorry you entered the synonym when we wanted the English”, and then it prompts you to answer again. You then realize that this is the other one, and type “le prospectus”. You do not get marked wrong.
I just tested it by reviewing that level, and it seems to work as designed. You should not be getting marked wrong.

Hmm, I just had a thought: What if the synonyms feature is broken on the mobile apps? I tested this on the web. Which Memrise front end are you using?
When I first posted my query I tried to paste in the URL but it pasted unrecognisable junk. If it does that again I’ll type it out including the number. I have seen that message about synonyms before for phrases etc and clued in. I didn’t notice it here but it probably was there all the time! Merci beaucoup!
I often use my mobile (but not the app) - not sure if the synonym message comes up or not. I’ll look out for it next time. Thanks.
Cool, okay. I think the course is fine, but do let me know if you get marked wrong when typing either of those correct answers for “leaflet” in this course. It should never mark you wrong when you answer either of those two for “leaflet”; it should either mark you right, or tell you that you typed a synonym and prompt you to try again.

Hey @cos, I’m reviewing Intermediate French again and still striking the same problem of typing “le tract” instead of “le prospectus”. I’m not getting any message re the other synonym. I’m also not picking up on the difference between the two when I’m reviewing. Can you please assist? (I actually posted this same issue a few days ago - forgetting I’d previously posted it here - I’ll go back to that “new” post and delete it). Merci beaucoup.
