Inappropriate language in Malay course

Hello, I started the Malay for the everyday course and I saw this (screenshot attached). I am wondering if the course content has been hacked by a malicious person?

that course has a level called “cursing/swearing/NSFW”, just ignore the items in that level (i find it important to understand such local stuff - some if it… )

memrise is a platform for learning everything and anything
In the real life people can insult you
so if you don’t know some inappropriate words or sentences how can you reply

I know with hugs , kisses and maybe with money money money and three bitches(the third solution works and it’s tested and approved)

This is the course.

You made it look like it was a troll or fake course, when it’s not. That level you’re looking at is called Cursing/Swearing NSFW. Why would you even want to censor language that you can learn?

Will ignoring an item also exclude the item from alternatives in multiple-choice? I wouldn’t think so.

Yes, bad language is part of a language. However, many swearing terms have the similar meaning; couldn’t it be better translated with a less offense term and then indicate ‘the number of stars’ (1 start least offending; 4 stars extremely)?

John_Baite no he can’t

probably it could, but what would the final use of such action be? how does that help? and who is the target group of such actionism?

(while i completely disagree with @nadroy that memrise is for learning anything. Really? like your courses “teaching” the alphabet? let’s be a bit serious)

Maybe it’s time to move away from multiple-choice tests on the web portal and installing Cooljingle’s Tampermonkey user script “all typing”?

Hydroptere yes my courses are includes
look at this exemple
Before learning a new language you have to learn the alphabet of this one

We will all be speaking ebonics in 50 years anyway. Get use to it.

Interesting. Thanks for the replies. I guess the confusion arose because I had only started the initial levels learning fairly polite terms - but one of the incorrect answers was “fuck your asshole”. I suppose if I’d already reached the swearing section of the course this might not seem so odd but I had not yet reached that level. Anyway I wonder if it’s a mistake as “fuck your asshole” is not an insult. That would be “fuck you asshole”. Fuck your asshole is something you might say when trying to procure anal sex. Is that really the intention?!

tbh many people could find that useful …

absolutely, especially for French!!! (grow up)

Yes, in French. In which movie did they say something like: “swearing in French is the best, it’s is like wiping your b*tt with silk”?

I have no idea, I avoid that kind of flicks (so called “blockbusters”??). I’ve been taught French long time ago (as it happens by my half-French grandma), so my idea about French has more to do with madeleines au citron, Chartres, Jacques Brel, etc. It could be indeed that some people think a lot only about and with their bums?
