IME input continues into next question

I’ve found a really frustrating problem with my Mac’s IME. I realize this may or may not be a Memrise problem, but I couldn’t figure out a way to Google this without being overly specific and confusing the search engine. What happens is that lets say I’m given the prompt to type “hat” in Japanese. No problem, I type 帽子. The problem is that Memrise automatically accepts it and moves on to the next question, but the keyboard doesn’t “realize” that I’m on another page, so it automatically enters 帽子 on the next question. Now I need to backspace twice to put in the actual answer to the new question, which gets really frustrating.

The biggest problem with this, though, is that since there’s no prompt to close the “select suggested words” tab, if a multiple choice question comes right after a typing input question, I can’t see the multiple choice answers since they’re hidden under the tab!

I realize explaining can only get me so far, so I recorded my screen while reviewing so you can see the problem: https://vimeo.com/245638290

As you can see, once I enter an answer and move on to the next question, the instant I start typing the answer to the current question it inputs the previous answer. Anyone have an idea how to fix this? Thanks!

your problem is related to the latest disimprovement/update, some other people said the same in here and some other threads as well: Memrise Release Notes - 28 Nov 2017 (Update on changes to typing test)

Has anyone found a solution for this? Since it seems the hacks at Memrise are smugly satisfied with ruining their users’ experiences.

I’ve updated my fork of the Memrise Turbo userscript to fix the IME issue (I use the google pinyin ime but hopefully should work for the others too).

Awesome, this seems really helpful! Does it work on Mac? When I click the installation link it gives me an error message that says that apps can’t be downloaded from the website ^^;

If you’re on Chrome, get tampermonkey. Then you can run this.

The only issue I’m having is that because it is turbo, the japanese definitions that flash on the right hand side after submitting an answer are flashed by. But that’s an OK price for being able to type again.
