Ignoring an item when viewing the lesson removes introductory flashcard

Not sure how to properly phrase this, perhaps a visual helps. In case this is course-specific, this is the course and level: Turkish 6 by Memrise, level 11

What happened was I was looking at the list to find the next five words that would be up for learning, and I decided to ignore one of those words since I already knew it. Upon ignoring it, all the remaining words that I hadn’t yet learned transformed into words that I have encountered but failed to learn as shown in the image. When I then clicked to learn these words, I was immediately quizzed about one of these words without the introductory card that tells me about the word and gives me the chance to listen to it and look at mems. This has happened to me once before but I didn’t realize it was happening then. When ignoring a word from inside a learning session, this does not happen, only when ignoring a word from the list of words in a lesson.

This is what it looks like after I clicked to ignore a word:

it is not exactly a “bug”, it is a sort of a “feature”. Those items don’t count as failed in learning, but as “previewed”. It was always like this… unfortunately

No, that didn’t happen a while ago when I went through a different course and pre-ignored all the words I already knew. Here’s an image of what that looks like. It’s possible that this problem has happened before, I haven’t been a member for very long, but it hasn’t always been like this.

nice for you!

but. in my case, every time when ignoring items from the lesson’s desk, I had that screen that you show in your first message

I see. I guess I better get used to ignoring words from within the learning session for the time being.

Yes, you’re right. I do exactly this, because otherwise I never get to see those introductory definitions … now that auto-ignore is gone…:disappointed:

I’ve definitely noticed a change in the behavior for ignoring in the past week or so as well.

Previously, if I ignored an item, then un-ignored it, it would show an empty progress bar in the level page for that one item, suggesting that it was partially learned. If I tried to learn the item shortly after un-ignoring it, it would skip the first page, where you select a mem, etc.

Now though, if I ignore anything in a level, this effect is applied to every item within the level, which definitely was not happening to me before. The effect seems to disappear after a while (within a day, from what I’ve seen), so you should still see the first page if you wait a while. It hasn’t really gotten in my way yet, since I usually ignore items ahead of time. I do hope that it eventually gets fixed though, as I can see it being a potential nuisance.

Interesting. I shall try this out on the level I’m currently on, see if it works for me. Thanks!

Nope, this doesn’t seem to do the trick. Edit: actually, when learning the words, I got the flashcard even though the lesson overview looked the same. So waiting a while does help!

Hi @zieLiz , Thanks for bringing that to our attention. You’ll be happy to hear that our developers are already working on it and you can expect a fix in the following days.

Very happy, thanks so much for fixing it and for letting me know!

the bug was not fixed. I still have to ignore one by one, otherwise i don’t see the learning flashcard

This has been fixed, ignoring an item will no more remove the presentation screen of other words.

muchas gracias!

@Joshua
thanks for your hard work.
Unfortunately, I am encountering the same problem: an ignored word is regarded as a known word; Therefore, when I remove “ignore” and want to learn it I am immediately tested on it.
