On the Lessons page of my Italian course it indicates there are 9 words which I have ignored. However, when I search through each lesson (I’m only on Lesson 8) the pages state there are “0 Ignored” I want to review these words, because I think I mistakenly ignored some.

I don’t think you have actually ignored these words. I think what you are seeing is the anomaly between the web version and the app version. With the ‘official’ Memrise language courses, the app version includes some interactive grammar lessons which can’t be learned on the web version of the course.
On the web version of “Italian 1”, for example, Levels 2, 4 and 7 are grammar lessons which each have 3 items. These are your ‘missing’ 9 words up to Level 8 (there are more grammar lessons at Levels 10, 17 and 19, so when you reach these, the number showing as ignored will increase). Although you haven’t actually ignored these items, Memrise shows them as ignored on the course homepage for reasons best known to them.
I have a similar situation on my Spanish courses…
