IchigoSmof on Memrise and beyond

Still lacking the ancient course-connected forums, I feel the need for a ム thread

Learing tip
修学 助
I changed the basis setting of 5 new words to 10 new words.
Not to speed up
If I had a new stack of 5 new words, I easily remember which 5 new words in my langage were in the stack.
If the foreign words were shown, I knew which 5 words in my language were concerned.
I got good results when learning 5 new words, but partly because of guessing.
When reviewing, it was clear that I hadn’t learned them very well.

That effect is smaller with 10 new words.

I’m following 81 people on my Global Leaderbord, but only 11 of them have studied this week.

I’ve choosen 100 words for the reviewing session, because you can quit a session whenever you want anyway, and you loose less time in between sessions.

Do you still get the bonus points for speed and accuracy when you quit? I’ve always meant to work that out and never got round to checking.

i don’t know
i’ll pay attention to it next time

i think i know why you didn’t work it out

there are 2 pssibilities to interrupt a session

  • click Pause, and then click Exit and save (or Stop and save, or something else with ‘and ssve’, i don’t remember the exact wordings)
  • click on the X upper right corner, and then click Leave page
In both cases they don’t show the results

i guess the way to proceed is to

  • take a look at the amount of points you have before starting the session A
  • take a look at the amount of points mentioned in the top bar before you quit B
  • take a look at the amount of points you have after you quit the session C

Then work out the difference between A+B and C
The difference should be what you get for speed and accuracy

i’ve just done a small test and it looks as if you don’t get the extra
but maybe i made too many mistakes or was too slow

i lot the review words amass a bit in the easy levels, and test again tomorrow

Memrise gives the bonus points at the end of a session. If you leave a session early, you don’t get the bonus points. There are situations were this is useful. :sunglasses:

Thank you, lurajane, for the information.

Surfing on the net I found a video by somebody who sometimes vlogs about Japan, and this time he told some interesting stuff about language and religion.

I thought it was interesting to have a watch.

A bit about religion and language

with 10 words for ‘new words’ it’s also less bad if you make a small mistake

Beyond: just seen Valerian: it had incredible languages!

I have delved deeper into the case of the girl on the so-called Japanese vlogging channeld Kanadajin3, and I explain everything I’ve found out here:

Who or what IS Kanadajin3 or Mira?

Getting further and further in
2136 Jōyō Kanji by Grade
I notice there are less and less mem’s, which simply means that more and more people gave up.
But I won’t.

I think it also might be that people felt less need for mems later on too. But anyway, good luck! it took me about a year to get through that course.

i guess a year will also be what it takes me
i’ m now at 1736, and i do at least 10/day, which means 213.6 days
but i will need extra time to rehearse them thoroughly

the more points you have the more important it is to follow people with your leaderboard, because the higher you are the more time it takes to get to a higher level (and gives us back the level names!)

2136 Jōyō Kanji by Grade 1816 / 2136 words learned 139 in long term memory (LTM)

almost there!

Where has Felicelim gone to?
She did a great job on 2136 Kanji by grade by putting mems in it till the very last.
