I paid for a Pro subscription right before the cut over to decks, and now features I paid for are gone. I’ve created my own vocabulary lists for reviewing words that I wanted to study. These lists used audio files provided by Memrise, and now the audio associated with these lists no longer works.
The Memrise created content was the ONLY reason I signed up for an account. The content is great, but not being able to use it in your own “courses” kills the utility for me.
I’d like to hear from Memrise staff to hear if using Memrise created content in your own decks/courses is ever going to be back. I would continue using the site if there were a way to re-purpose the content in such a way that it aligns with my current study goals.
Giving this question a bump in hopes that Memrise staff will reply to it. I don’t mind posting questions and comments in an open forum like this, but it’s frustrating when the only option you have to contact the company is these forums and questions go unanswered.
The problem is that I created a deck for myself using audio files created by Memrise, and now those audio files are gone following the Decks cutover. Having the pre-existing audio files is the primary reason I created the cards in Memrise instead of Anki.
I understand that Memrise is concerned about all the great user created content diluting Memrise created content, so why not let subscribers create their own private vocabulary review decks? As a language learn progresses in their study and beings doing more reading the pre-selected trees diminish in value since more and more content is review. At a point, more of the content is review than new and the value is lost without being able to quickly and easily select only what you want to study. Pruning existing courses down is too cumbersome!
The killer feature for me would be to import a list of vocabulary in English or Japanese and have Memrise spit out a “course” that has a mixture of vocabulary words and sentences with content from learn with locals, listening skills, etc.
