I cannot add topic tags

I’ve created a new topic, but I can’t find a way to add tags to it. Right now, while writing this message, I can see a window “choose optional tags for this topic,” but there was no such window when I was writing the other topic. How can I add tags to it?

Now the dropdown appeared. I think that was a novice-user limitation that does not allow new users to add tags. Strange limitation…

Is that what it means when you can’t add tags? You are restricted? And what is the reason for the restriction?

This forum is built on the Discourse Forum platform. There is a concept of trust levels and that link provides the official description.

I am pretty sure that you are able to use (predefined) tags from trust level 2; member.

Here is the description of what trust levels (which restrict you) are and why they are needed. To get the Basic trust level that allows you to add tags you have to do one of the following:

  • enter at least 5 topics
  • read at least 30 posts
  • spend a total of 10 minutes reading posts
